Hyundai Motor Company was founded in 1967.

In 1998 Hyundai absorbed the Korean automobile company Kia Motors.

In 2000, it entered into a strategic alliance with DaimlerChrysler, which existed for several years.

The Hyundai plant in the Korean city of Ulsan, consisting of five enterprises, was considered the largest automobile manufacturing plant in the world as of 2006.
